Install or Change Keyboard Language – Windows 7 – Beginner Series

windows_7_starter_edition-5804f5c75f9b5805c2cb310c.jpg?fit=768%2C512

You can change the language Windows uses to display text in wizards, dialog boxes, menus, and other items in the user interface. Some display languages are installed by default, while others require you to install additional language files.

How To change your display language

When you change the display language, the text in menus and dialog boxes for some programs might not be in the language that you want. This happens because the program might not support Unicode.
  1. Open Region and Language by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel and then clicking Region and Language or Clock, Language and Region.
  2. Click the Keyboards and Languages tab.
  3. Under Display language, choose a language from the list, and then click OK.

Google App Sync – Unlimited Mailbox Size Registry Fix

Google_1495030082.png?fit=640%2C640

You can configure some Google AppSync features by modifying the Windows registry. This needs to be done on each computer where you want the new setting to take effect. Users can do this themselves if they’re comfortable with working in the registry. Otherwise, you, the domain administrator, should make these changes for them.

Limit mailbox size

You can limit the size of a user’s mailbox to a specific number of megabytes. This value also includes the size of delegated mailboxes that can be accessed. When you implement this registry key, the mailbox size limit options aren’t available.

Add the following registry key—HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google\Google Apps Sync\EmailSync

Modify HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google\Google Apps Sync\EmailSync by adding the following DWORD value:

  • DWORD value name—MaxStorePstSizeMegaBytes
  • DWORD value data—Enter the number of megabytes that you want as the maximum size of the mailbox.

Note: You must set the DWORD value to decimal before specifying the number of megabytes.

Steps

  • Open Acrobat or Acrobat Reader. On the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
  • In the Preferences dialog box, choose General in the Categories list, and then select the Set As Default PDF Handler button.

How to install and configure FileZilla Silently Via Batch File

filezilla-logo.png?fit=768%2C351

The following process has been tested and confirmed working with FileZilla 3.28.x and ConfigMgr / SCCM 2012 R2.

It does the following tasks:

  • Uninstalls any existing versions of FileZilla
  • Installs FileZilla for the operating systems architecture (32-bit or 64-bit)

PLEASE NOTE – If you wish to use a different version of FileZilla you will need to either, rename your installation files to match those referenced in the script or amend the script to reference the files you are trying to use.

  1. Download both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the EXE installation files from https://filezilla-project.org/download.php?show_all=1
  2. Create a text file called install.cmd and copy in the following information.
@echo off
cls
echo --------------------------------------------------------
echo .
echo .
echo .           Installing FileZilla - Please Wait.
echo .         (This window will close once installed)
echo .

REM Uninstall any previous version of FileZilla
if exist "%programfiles%\FileZilla FTP Client\uninstall.exe" "%programfiles%\FileZilla FTP Client\uninstall.exe" /S
if exist "%programfiles(x86)%\FileZilla FTP Client\uninstall.exe" "%programfiles(x86)%\FileZilla FTP Client\uninstall.exe" /S

REM Silent install FileZilla for 64-bit
if defined ProgramFiles(x86) "%~dp0FileZilla_3.26.2_win64-setup.exe" /S
if defined ProgramFiles(x86) exit

REM Silent install FileZilla for 32-bit
"%~dp0FileZilla_3.26.2_win32-setup.exe" /S
  1. Copy the two exe install files and install.cmd to your software package share
  2. You can now create your SCCM package or deploy the software by using install.cmd

If you wish for this to be truely silent you can delete the following lines of code from the script:

@echo off
cls
echo --------------------------------------------------------
echo .
echo .
echo .           Installing FileZilla - Please Wait.
echo .         (This window will close once installed)
echo .

Adobe CS6 Disable Automatic Updates After Deployment

creativecloud_wallpaper_2560x1600.jpg?fit=768%2C480

Adobe Creative Suite 6 and Adobe Creative Cloud include an automatic update mechanism that is part of the Adobe Application Manager and Adobe Creative Cloud desktop application (respectively). By default, this update mechanism uses an Internet connection to check Adobe servers for available updates to installed CS6 or Creative Cloud applications. In certain circumstances, system administrators want to disable these connections. You can disable these connections at the time of deployment using features in the Creative Cloud Packager.

This document explains how to disable the connections after deployment, or when using other deployment methods.
